Researchers examined the effect of Kaiser Permanente’s orthopedic, cardiology and vascular implant registries developed in 2001, 2006 and 2011, respectively. The registries monitor Kaiser Permanente patients, implants, clinical practices and surgical outcomes. Healthcare leaders use the registries to quickly identify patients with recalled devices, evaluate new and established device technology and identify outlier implants, according to the study.
