While MEDITECH manages patient information and administrative data, it does not provide capabilities for handling paper-based content, which is a component of HHS’ recently released meaningful use guidelines. Through the use of the new OnBase program, current users of the MEDITECH can bring their healthcare IT system into meaningful use compliance, according to the report.
“Many hospitals are well on their way to managing patient data with some kind of technology,” Susan deCathelineau, healthcare manager for Hyland Software, said in the release. “But now there’s a clear need to be able to manage the 25 percent of content —physician notes, EKGs, consent forms — that exists outside of that technology. With that in mind, we took what we learned from the Valco Data Systems acquisition and its product to develop the OnBase for MEDITECH solution.”
