HMA Plans to Invest $20M in Arkansas’ Sparks Regional Medical Center

Officials from Healthcare Management Associates are meeting with planners and hospital administrative staff to decide how to invest $20 million in Sparks Regional Medical Center in Fort Smith, Ark., according to a report in the Times Record.

HMA acquired Sparks Health System, which includes the 492-bed hospital, in December for about $138 million, according to the report.

The financing could go toward the completion of the surgery center at Sparks’ Renaissance Building, according to the report. Officials did not say in the report any final decision on what the $20 million would be used for.
