One of ASC’s physician-owners said a principle reason for the closure is that reimbursement has failed to keep up with rising inflation, according to the Times Record News. More than 50 percent of its cases are for Medicare and Medicaid patients, according to KFDX

The facility, which opened in 1983, has performed more than 70,000 surgeries and averages 200 cases per month.

Physicians are minority owners in North Texas Surgi-Center, with Surgical Care Affiliates as majority owners.
