The United States has strengthened domestic preparedness and response efforts since fall 2014. State and local public health officials, with technical assistance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response, collaborated with healthcare officials to increase domestic capacity to care for patients with Ebola.

The funding also helps states establish up to 10 Ebola treatment centers in the country.
