Second-quarter lobbying spend for the group dropped 15 percent from $2.7 million in the first quarter of the year, but is up 22 percent from $1.9 million in the second quarter of 2009.

AHIP’s lobbying budget trumps that of the Federation of American Hospitals, which represents investor-owned hospitals. FAH spent $660,000 on lobbying in the second quarter, down 16 percent from the first quarter of the year and down 33 percent from $980,00 in the second quarter of last year, according to a separate Bloomberg Businessweek report.
