Hawaii Biotechnology Firm to Build Eye Surgery Center

Honolulu-based Cellular Bioengineering has received state approval to build a surgery center that will specialize in eye surgery and cornea transplants, according to a report in the Pacific Business Journal.

Pacific ASC will be built at the Shops at Dole Cannery. Cellular Bioengineering is developing a line of artificial corneas that the company hopes to have government clearance for implanting by the end of next year, according to the report.

Officials from Cellular Bioengineering did not release any further details about Pacific ASC.
