According to the report, a federal report cited the hospital for poor compliance to hand hygiene policy, incorrectly maintaining humidity levels in ORs and dusty or cluttered holes in the ceilings, all of which can lead to the spread of infection.

The hospital’s corrective action plan includes more robust staff education on hand hygiene and weekly audits for infection control. Federal regulators will conduct a follow-up survey of Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in the near future.
