Members of Village Green originally opposed the project, but many residents spoke out in favor of the project at a recent City Council meeting, according to the report. Some council members were opposed, saying the Village Green developed previously showed no interested in developing the land proposed for the construction.

Gilroy officials have asked for more information before approving the project.
