With this latest addition to the medical staff, the Surgery Center at Mt. Zion can accommodate even more outpatient opportunities for its Southern Crescent community and is on track to expand to a new facility in 2009. The relocation from Morrow, Ga., to Spivey Station, a 90-acre medical campus now under development in Jonesboro, Ga., will result in the facility’s changing its name to Spivey Station Surgery Center. The new facility will include 25,000 square feet, operating rooms with telesurgery capability, a patient waiting area with business office tools and Internet café, and the ability to fill prescriptions before discharge. This will be the first time many of these amenities are offered in the Southern Crescent area.
Opened in 1997, The Surgery Center at Mt. Zion is a joint-venture between Southern Regional Health System and several physicians. The center performs about 5,000 ENT, pain management, podiatry, general surgery, orthopedic surgery, urology and gynecology procedures annually.
We are seeking nominations for great JV ASCs to know for the special February issue of the Becker’s ASC Review, which will focus on mergers and acquisitions. To nominate a facility, contact Scott Becker.
