Mr. Roe was charged with wire fraud, witness tampering, obstruction of justice and other crimes. In September of last year, he pleaded not guilty to all charges but in January changed to a single guilty plea for wire fraud. The other charges were eventually dropped, according to the report.
Mr. Roe allegedly authorized three checks ranging from $25,000-$45,000 from Danbury Hospital to a software company he owned, although no goods or services were provided. He is also accused of increasing the appraised price of his home to receive additional compensation from Danbury, which reimbursed him part of the costs associated with selling his former home when he relocated to Danbury, according to the report.
He is also accused of paying fraudulent funds to his software company while at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima, Ohio.
Mr. Roe violated his probation by sending an email to his parole officer from his wife’s email account. He was prohibited from using email.
Mr. Roe has agreed to reimburse Danbury Hospital and St. Rita’s. He faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and a $1 million fine upon sentencing, according to the report.
