The acquisition of the 15,000 square-foot surgery center will increase the hospital’s surgical capacity by 40 percent, increasing the hospital’s operating rooms to 10 from six, according to the report. The surgery center will operate as a department of the hospital.

Palm Coast and Florida Hospital Flagler had been in talks about a partnership for several years, but this is the first time an agreement has been reached.

“Both the physicians and the hospital have decided that working together will benefit the community much more than working separately,” Florida Hospital Flagler’s incoming chief of staff Terry Regan said in the report.
