Federal Government Joins Lawsuit Against CHS for Medicaid Fraud

The federal government has joined a whistleblower lawsuit again Community Health Systems, based in Franklin, Tenn., according to a report in the Nashville Business Journal.

According to the lawsuit, CHS manipulated a Medicaid payment program for three New Mexico hospitals, which received a total of $47.5 million that should not have been paid to them.

The three New Mexico hospitals involved are the Eastern New Mexico Medical Center in Roswell, the Mimbres Memorial Hospital in Deming and the Alta Vista Regional Hospital in Las Vegas.
