Eye Surgery Center of Hawaii implants bionic eye

Physicians at the Eye Surgery Center of Hawaii in Honolulu have implanted a bionic eye in a 72-year old patient, according to a KITV4 report.

The patient lost her eyesight due to retinitis pigmentosa. The implant, a chip paired with a camera and glasses combination, is designed to allow patients to regain a level of sight through shades of grey, according to the report.
