ENT Department Assistant Charged with Embezzling $1M From Boston Hospital

A practice assistant in the ENT Department at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston is pleading guilty to embezzling more than $1 million from the hospital, according to a release from the FBI.

Richard P. Webb, 42, allegedly took the money from Jan. 2006-April 2009 by stealing checks written to the department and by obtaining fraudulent refunds for hearing aids and other items.

The 381-bed hospital is a teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School.
