The researchers analyzed the binary outcomes of 32,001 elective general surgical patients at the Cleveland Clinic between Jan. 2005 and Sept. 2010. The outcomes were analyzed according to the hour of the day (6 a.m. to 7 p.m.), day of the workweek, month of the year and moon phase in which the surgery started.
Mortality was not significantly more frequent on any time of day, day of the week, month of the year or moon phase.
