The report told a story all-too-familiar to many ASCs: as reimbursements fall and regulations become stricter, centers are forced to consider other ownership models. “What the industry is worried about, on a federal level especially, is that essentially at some point, it will be impossible for ASCs to do business and be licensed as ASCs,” Dr. Shapiro told the Denver Business Journal.
He said if ASC reimbursements are not adjusted, healthcare spending could rise as ASCs are forced out of business.
