The FDA-approved device was developed as a result of a collaboration between TDAK Medical CEO Tom Trozera, Dr. Schanzlin and several physicians at the University of California San Diego.
According to Dr. Schanzlin, who also serves as president of the San Diego Eye Bank, the EK Injector minimizes the surgeon’s time in the eye during endothelial keratoplasty surgery, significantly reduces the loss of endothelial cells during surgery and simplifies the eye bank’s process for handling the tissue.
