Connecticut Eye Surgeon to Offer Free Cataract Surgery for Needy Patients

Scott Spector, MD, an eye surgeon in Norwalk, Conn., will perform free cataract surgery for 14 patients on March 1 at his ASC, according to a report in The Stamford Times.

Dr. Spector is offering the services in conjunction with Mission Cataract USA, a nonprofit group helping to provide free cataract surgery for those who cannot afford it, according to the report.

Candidates have impaired vision due to cataracts, no access to insurance (including Medicare and Medicaid) and no other means to pay for surgery. Free follow-up exams will also be provided, according to the report.
