CMS to Grant Blanket Quality Reporting Waivers to Hospitals, Not ASCs

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services intends to waive certain quality reporting requirements for hospitals in Connecticut, New Jersey, New York and Rhode Island affected by Hurricane Sandy, but is not waiving any Ambulatory Surgical Center Quality Reporting requirements, according to a CMS memorandum.

CMS plans to waive the Inpatient Prospective Payment System and Outpatient Prospective Payment System hospitals’ quality measure data and medical records requirements. However, it is not waiving ASCQR or Inpatient Psychiatric Facility Quality Reporting data submission requirements.

Facilities directly impacted by Hurricane Sandy can submit individual disaster waiver requests, according to the memorandum.
