A search for a physician in Cleveland Clinics directory will now not only provide a biography but will also list the names of companies which each physician has collaborations. The information will also identify whether the physician has equity in the company, the right to royalties, a fiduciary position or a consulting relationship that pays $5,000 or more per year.
“We want our patients to have abundant information about our physicians and let them decide what’s relevant to their situations,” said Joseph Hahn, MD, chief of staff for the Cleveland Clinic, according to a press release from the organization. “As far as we are aware, Cleveland Clinic will be the first academic medical center in the U.S. to disclose to its patients and the public the industry ties of its physicians,”
