Michigan Podiatrist Accused of Filing Fraudulent Claims

A Davison, Mich., podiatrist has been charged with 41 counts of healthcare fraud, according to a WNEM news report.

Richard A. Behnan, DPM, has been accused of filing more than $880,000 in fraudulent claims to Medicare and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan. Dr. Behnan and an associate allegedly billed the insurance providers for surgical procedures performed after falsely diagnosing patients with foot infections, according to the report.
