Carlsbad Surgery Center provides care for uninsured

Carlsbad (Calif.) Surgery Center provided charitable care to uninsured patients in San Diego County, according to a report from the California Ambulatory Surgery Society.

Physicians at the ASC performed free surgical services in conjunction with the San Diego Medical Society as part of “Saturday Surgery Day.” The surgeries included hernia repairs and cyst removals for eight patients.

One in five San Diego County residents are uninsured and providing this care makes an impact on the community.

The surgery center was the first ASC in Carlsbad when the facility opened in January 2009. The centers is owned by local physicians and provide orthopedic surgery, spine surgery, pain management, joint replacements, stem cell therapy, ophthalmology, ENT, cardiology and podiatry in addition to general surgery.
