The transaction has been approved by the boards of directors of both companies. The acquisition builds on a pact signed last year which gave Asahi Kasei exclusive rights to sell ZOLL’s AED Plus automated external defibrillator in Japan.

ZOLL Medical’s product lines include LifeVest, a wearable automatic defibrillator; temperature management technologies for managing the core body temperature of critically ill or surgical patients; and AutoPulse, a non-invasive cardiac support pump.
