Construction of the 192,260-square-foot San Carlos Center is expected to begin in Jan. 2011. In addition to space for outpatient surgery, it will include an urgent-care center, 120 primary physicians and specialists and an on-site laboratory and pharmacy.

Sutter Health had originally planned to begin building the clinic in 2009, with a targeted completion in 2012, but the health system delayed moving ahead with the project due to the economy, according to the report.
