Dr. Justice admitted that he defrauded insurers from 2004 to 2009 by charging them for injectable cancer medications that were never provided. The patients either received no injectable medications or less-expensive medications, according to the report.
The total estimated false claims made by Dr. Justice are between $400,000 and $1 million.
Dr. Justice has since retired from Orange Coast and as head of Pacific Coast Hematology/Oncology Medical Group.
His arraignment is scheduled on May 3, and he faces up to a $1.25 million fine as well as prison time, though prosecutors are expected to recommend probation, according to the report.
