California Court Halts Medi-Cal Cuts

A California federal appeals court has halted a 5 percent cut in Medi-Cal rates for hospitals, ruling that the cuts were made without examining their effect on quality of care, the economy or access to health services, according to a report by the San Francisco Chronicle.

The cuts, which were effective Mar. 1, would have cost hospitals in the state $80 million annually in state funds.

The ruling will benefit more than 300 public and private hospitals in the state, according to the report.
