Last year, Congress failed to convince CMS to adjust the ASC reimbursement index from the CPI-U to the Hospital Market Basket index. The discrepancy between these two payment systems means that ASC and HOPD reimbursement continues to diverge. Using the CPI-U, Medicare reimbursements for ASCs were set at 56 percent of the amount paid to hospital outpatient departments for performing the same procedures.

ASCA includes a link for leaders who want to contact members of Congress.
