William H. Wilcox is the founder and chairman of United Surgical Partners International, which was established in 1998 and currently owns and operates outpatient surgical facilities across the U.S. and United Kingdom. More than half of the facilities in the U.S. are jointly owned facilities with non-profit healthcare systems and hospitals.
Prior to his appointment as chairman of the board and the executive committee, Mr. Wilcox served as USPI’s president and CEO from its inception until 2004. Before founding USPI, he served as CEO of United Dental Care, president of the Surgery Group of HCA and president and CEO of the ambulatory surgery division of HCA.
In August, USPI released its second quarter financial results, which shows the company’s net revenues grew 5 percent compared to the same quarter in 2011. Second-quarter financial results were driven by systemwide revenue growth of 12 percent, consisting of 4 percent same-facility revenue growth and acquisition activity.
“We are pleased that our volume growth has been more robust during the first half of 2012,” Mr. Wilcox said. “We will continue to focus on organic growth initiatives and expect that acquisitions of new facilities will continue at the historical pace, albeit after a slow start.”
