Leslie R. Jebson, CMPE, is the executive director of the Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine Institute at the University of Florida in Gainesville. After assuming the role four years ago at the new 130,000-square-foot facility, he has been a driving force in the Institute’s momentous volume and market growth. The institute now has more than 100,000 patient visits and 6,000 surgical procedures performed. The facility is comprised of 21 faculty physicians, 21 residents and seven fellows.

In addition to leading the Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine Institute, Mr. Jebson has served as project manager of the Helmsley Diabetes Research Consortium at the University of Florida Academic Health Center. Among his other achievements in this role, Mr. Jebson helped develop and implement the first national clinical trial for the Helmsley Charitable Trust. His prior leadership experience includes stints as COO of Shawnee Missions Physicians Group in Kansas City, Kansas; business director of patient care and perioperative services at the University of Kansas Hospital; and specialty clinics operations manager at University Physicians of University of Missouri Healthcare. Altogether, Mr. Jebson boasts nearly 10 years of healthcare leadership experience.

At the 10th Annual Orthopedic, Spine and Pain Management-Driven ASC Conference earlier this month, Mr. Jebson discussed the costs and benefits of orthopedic practice mergers. He said steps to success include forming a merger joint planning team and building trust between all parties involved.

At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
