Arvind Movva, MD, serves as chief executive officer of Regional SurgiCenter in Moline, Ill., as well as its affiliated organizations Heartland Clinic, Gastroenterology Consultants, Valley View Anesthesia, Valley Laboratories, Heartland Center for Motility, Valley View Pain Center and Midwest Clinical Research.
Dr. Movva earned his medical degree from Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Sciences in Chicago. He went on to complete an internship at the University of Illinois Medical Center, also in Chicago, and a residency at Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore. Dr. Movva joined Heartland Clinic in 2010 after completing his fellowship in gastroenterology at Medical College of Georgia.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Movva is involved in several professional associations, including Illinois State Medical Society, Quad City Medical Society, American Gastroenterological Association and American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.
Dr. Movva recently discussed the decision to post prices for healthcare services on Regional SurgiCenter’s website. Despite physicians’ fears that publicly posting prices may upset local hospitals, Dr. Movva argued consumers must be properly informed about the high-quality, low-cost care ASCs can provide over hospitals.
“For decades ASCs have provided this value, but the consumer is often unaware of this, even if they perceive higher quality, most do not know the cost savings, and some I have talked to even thought an ASC would be more expensive, since it is a superior experience,” he said.
