ASC Leader to Know: Clifford G. Adlerz of Symbion

Clifford G. Adlerz has been the president of Symbion since 2002 and chief operating officer and a director of the company since 1999, when he helped co-found it. Due in part to Mr. Adlerz’ leadership, Symbion’s network of ASCs has grown to more than 70 short-stay surgical facilities in 27 states.

Clifford G. Adlerz, president and chief operationg officer of SymbionPreviously, he served as chief operating officer of UniPhy, an operator of multispecialty clinics and outpatient services, as division vice president of HCA (formerly Columbia/HCA Healthcare Corporation) and as a regional vice president for HealthTrust. Mr. Adlerz also served at the helm of South Bay Hospital in Sun City, Fla., from 1987 to 1992.

Mr. Adlerz also serves on the board of directors for the national Ambulatory Surgery Center Association and is part of the leadership group for ASC Quality Collaboration.
