In addition to her clinical and leadership experience, Ms. Hargrave-Thomas was instrumental in the establishment of the Michigan Reproductive Nurses Association. In 1998, she partnered with a local pharmaceutical representative to organize the first MRNA dinner meeting. More than 10 years later, MRNA has grown and continues to provide nurses with education on reproductive endocrinology. Ms. Hargrave-Thomas also served as president of the Michigan Ambulatory Surgical Association.
Ms. Hargrave-Thomas has also contributed her insight on healthcare administration and leadership to Becker’s ASC Review. In an article published in 2011, she described 10 steps to improve employee engagement, including effective dissolution of gossip. “I’ve had some very frank discussions,” Ms. Hargrave-Thomas said. “I’ve said, ‘Look, I don’t tolerate gossip. There’s no reason for it, and if you have a concern, come and talk to me about it.'”
At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
