Vivek TapariaMr. Taparia formerly served as the director of business development for Regent Surgical Health, a Westchester, Ill.-based surgery center development and management company, where he led strategic initiatives for the company’s surgery centers. Prior to joining Regent, Mr. Taparia developed marketing strategies for a surgical product line for Johnson & Johnson and advised healthcare corporations on corporate finance issues at the investment bank of JP Morgan. Mr. Taparia received an MBA from Harvard Business School and a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Chicago. He also was awarded a Fulbright scholarship to study banking infrastructure in Mexico City.

In an editorial written for Becker’s ASC Review, Mr. Taparia discussed his experience studying for the Certified Administrator Surgery Center exam. He began by consulting online review workshops, he said. “While taking these courses, it occurred to me that my lack of knowledge was okay. The courses were catered toward individuals with diverse professional experiences,” Mr. Taparia said. “The clinical modules were focused on those without clinical backgrounds. The regulatory and legal aspects of the courses were focused on individuals without background in those aspects of the ASC industry. After all, those who are leaders in the ASC industry come from all types of backgrounds ranging from financial to clinical to legal. I believe what these leaders have in common is a desire to make an impact on patient care and a continuous thirst to learn.”
