Ms. Savoie has been with Bayou Region since the center opened in July 2007, playing a key role in the development process from construction to staffing. She previously served as a circulator for a large hospital and at an ASC that eventually converted to a hospital. She later became the OR coordinator at the same facility.
Ms. Savoie discussed cost cutting tips for 2012 in an interview with Becker’s ASC Review. She said that her most effective cost-cutting strategy is to have a good purchasing agent. “I cannot stress enough how important it is to have a single person designated for purchasing that is organized, aware and aggressive,” she said. “Vendors will change pricing with no notice, and physicians will use items twice the price of other items without knowing. A good purchasing agent constantly keeps a watchful eye on daily activities with supplies and vendors.”
