Prior to joining Symbion in 2011, Mr. Henry served as president and CEO of American Endoscopy Services for more than 13 years. He also served as chief operating officer of Physicians Alliances, a non-profit group purchasing organization, and in various development and marketing roles within the healthcare industry.
Mr. Henry earned his bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Tennessee and his master’s degree in business management from Vanderbilt University.
In discussing ASC trends this year, Mr. Henry told Becker’s ASC Review that physicians are increasingly looking to take control of their revenue, procedures and time by turning to smaller surgical facilities that prioritize efficiency and case volume. Some hospital-affiliated physician groups, for example, are establishing surgical facilities close to the hospital with operating rooms on one floor and their offices on another, thereby eliminating travel time between cases. “If a physician is in his car driving from point to point, that is time he can’t get back for not seeing cases,” said Mr. Henry. “There seems to be an emphasis on much smaller centers focused on maximizing the physician’s time and energy.”
