Mr. Orseno works to maintain and enhance the revenue cycle process for all Regent facilities. He is responsible for monitoring and testing all components of the process to ensure adherence and accuracy and for developing and maintaining related policies and procedures. Before joining Regent, Mr. Orseno served as revenue cycle administrator for the Chicago Institute of Neurosugery and Neuroresearch. He earned his bachelor’s degree in public administration from Augustana College in Rock Island, Ill., and his master’s degree in health systems management from Rush University Medical Center in Chicago.
Mr. Orseno discussed best practices for surgery center improvement in an interview with Becker’s ASC Review. “One of the easiest ways to decrease your days outstanding is to manage your lags and turnaround time,” he said. “The charge entry lag is measured from the date of service to the date charges are entered. This number should be less than five days, with the gold standard less than two and a half days. Claims should always be sent the same day charges are entered, so the claim lag should be the same as the charge lag. If centers are experiencing a significant difference between the two, this is an indication that your billing department may be holding claims or that they’re entering charges prior to receiving the operative report.”
