With an MBA and master’s degrees in finance and telecommunications, Mr. St. Louis previously managed the medical operations and corporate administration for Laser Spine Institute. His leadership guided Laser Spine Institute through growth from one surgery center with one OR to four surgical centers with a total of 15 ORs. Mr. St. Louis and the executive team managed more than 400 employees, including more than 200 surgeons and medical professionals.
Following his work with Laser Spine Institute, Mr. St. Louis founded Advanced Healthcare Partners, which focuses on building, managing, measuring and integrating the strategic business operations of healthcare practices, platforms and concepts.
Mr. St. Louis discussed the importance of implementing a patient coordination system in an interview with Becker’s ASC Review. Effective patient coordinators should be empathetic and compassionate toward understanding patients’ symptoms and, ideally, possess a college degree with a combination of customer service and sales experience, he said. A patient coordinator should ultimately have the correct balance of compassion, education, and professionalism necessary to interact with a high volume of current and potential patients while instilling confidence in the patients’ questions. “Healthcare is often confusing, and the patient’s treatment can be a life-changing experience,” said Mr. St. Louis. “You want to make sure they feel comfortable and are enthused about their patients, and you want patient coordinators to deliver the highest level of service.”
