Dr. Robert Nucci is an orthopedic spine surgeon at Citrus Park Surgery Center.Dr. Nucci received his bachelor’s degree and MD from Georgetown University, completed his internship and residency in orthopedic surgery at the State University of New York Health Science Center at Brooklyn, and completed fellowship training at the Florida Neck and Back Institute in Gainesville. He is licensed in Florida, Michigan, New Jersey and New York with specialized training and credentialing in IME and Disability evaluations.

Dr. Nucci’s work with the Cyrus Nucci Research Foundation and the Maria Bergamo Nucci Foundation has been responsible for innovations in the care and treatment of spinal injuries, including the development and implementation of minimally invasive surgical techniques.

Dr. Nucci gave a presentation titled “Minimally Invasive Outpatient Lumbar Fusions and Multi-Level Outpatient Cervical Disc Replacements” at the 2011 Orthopedic, Spine and Pain Management-Driven ASC Conference in Chicago, where he discussed the benefits associated with performing spine cases in ASCs and described the far lateral interbody fusion procedure he has performed on patients in ASCs. To perform single or multi-level FLIFs, Dr. Nucci said he removes the disc through a small incision, inserts a mesh cage and inflates it with allograft bone. The average OR time for the procedure is 129 minutes, surgeon time is 118 minutes and recovery time is 180 minutes. The average blood loss is 141 cc, and there is minimal muscle tissue disruption.
