ASC Industry Leader to Know: Cathy Rudisill of Ambulatory Surgical Centers of America

Cathy RudisillMs. Rudisill has extensive experience in the perioperative setting. Prior to joining ASCOA, she worked as a market manager for the HealthSouth Corporation in Birmingham, Ala., and as the executive director for the Bon Secours St. Francis Health System Surgery Center in Greenville, S.C. A registered nurse with certification in operating room nursing Ms. Rudisill received her bachelor’s of science degree in nursing at the University of Alabama in Birmingham and her master’s degree in health administration at Seton Hall University in South Orange, N.J.

Ms. Rudisill discussed profitable physician recruitment and ASC staffing changes in a presentation at the 9th Annual Orthopedic, Spine and Pain-Management Driven ASC Conference in Chicago. “Hire staff members for attitude,” she said. “If they lack experience in a few areas, you can always train them. The number of full-time employees in the core staff should be based on a realistic assessment of scheduling needs.” For periods of higher volume, use part-time and per diem employees, she said.
