Before working at Health Resources International, Mr. Hecht served as executive vice president and COO of the ASC Network, a national surgical center company formed as a result of a merger between SunSurgery and Premier Ambulatory Systems of Pasadena, Calif.

Mr. Hecht served as president of FASA, which merged with the American Association of Ambulatory Surgery Centers to form the ASC Association in 2008. With FASA, Mr. Hecht pushed to equalize payment rates for ASCs with those of hospital outpatient departments, developed stronger communication between ASCs and the federal government, and found more vocal ASC advocates on Capitol Hill.

“No advocacy group, no matter how strong, gets everything it wants. But those that have a strong voice are able to ensure more positive outcomes for the policies and principles they support,” he said in a message from FASA in 2007. “In the interests of the patients that we serve and the communities where we operate, we need to make certain our voice is heard.”

At the Becker's 23rd Annual Spine, Orthopedic and Pain Management-Driven ASC + The Future of Spine Conference, taking place June 18–20 in Chicago, spine surgeons, orthopedic leaders and ASC executives will come together to explore minimally invasive techniques, ASC growth strategies and innovations shaping the future of outpatient spine care.
