As New Sterilizer Sales Slow, Refurbished Market Takes Off

Due to the economy and lower patient volumes, many hospitals and other providers are putting off buying new sterilization equipment or are opting for refurbished ones, according to a DOTMed report.

A refurbished sterilizer with a meaningful warranty should last about the same length of time as a new one.

 

Meanwhile, some providers are also buying low-heat sterilizers to process more delicate equipment. Low-heat machinery represents about 30 percent of the sterilizer market.
