Low back pain with facet disease has traditionally been treated with steroid injections with numbing medication, such as Lidocaine. While the treatment produces good to excellent results, the injections do not alter the course of arthritis. In addition, steroid injections have limitations on how often they can be injected. The stem cell rich tissue injection, which is FDA regulated, is made from the amniotic fluid of live donors and is not embryonic.
All patients will be followed for a minimum of six months, and examined variables will include pain reduction, work status and narcotic medication reduction. The initial pilot study will include 50 patients with a larger follow-up study to follow.
