Nevada Bill Requires Public Reporting of Hospital Infections

Nevada legislators have proposed a new measure that would require hospitals with more than 25 beds to publicly report healthcare-associated infections or illnesses, such as MRSA, according to a News 4 report.

Under the bill, the hospitals would report infections to the state to be compiled into statistics for consumers to view on a state website. Senator Valerie Wiener (D-Las Vegas) said the public reporting will allow consumers to “comparison shop” before choosing a hospital, according to the news report.
