Anesthesia Information Management Market to See 50% Growth in 2012

The U.S. market for anesthesia information management systems will increase by more than 50 percent in 2012, as hospitals automate their anesthesia departments ahead of the 2015 deadline in federal legislation, according to a news release by Research and Markets.

Anesthesia information management systems automate data collection in the anesthesia department –– streamlining work-flow, improving electronic records and decreasing malpractice claims.

 

Picis, GE Healthcare, Draeger, IMDsoft, Merge and Philips are the top contenders in this market, which will almost triple in value by 2017. Companies like Mindray, Maquet and Penlon are entering the U.S. anesthesia delivery unit market, forcing established market leaders to release low-cost low-acuity models to compete.
