The survey also found that 87 percent of respondents would support legislation to require healthcare advertisements to clearly designate the qualifications of the healthcare professional promoting their services. The Healthcare Truth and Transparency Act of 2011, introduced Jan. 26 by Rep. John Sullivan (R-Okla.) and Rep. David Scott (D-Ga.), would prohibit “misleading and deceptive advertising” by healthcare professionals, according to the AMA release.

Several states, including Arizona, Illinois and California, have already enacted similar legislation, according to the release.
