Agents’ Sweep of South Florida Pain Clinics Nets 40,000 Pills

Authorities confiscated more than 40,000 pills at South Florida pain clinics in the first day of enforcing the state’s new ban against dispensing pills in pain clinics, according to a report by Local 10 News.

Focusing first on known pill mills, state and federal agents seized pain pills that had not yet been turned in to authorities, but many clinics were already in compliance with the ban and had no pills at all.

The ban is part of a new state law that also limits the amount of pain pills a physician can prescribe and regulates ownership of pain clinics.
