ASC Industry Leader to Know: Dr. Prakash Patel of Access MediQuip

Prakash Patel, MD, is CEO of Access MediQuip, a national provider of surgical implant management solutions. He was named Access MediQuip’s chief operating and chief clinical officer in early 2011, and was named CEO shortly thereafter.

He brings over 15 years of healthcare experience in specialty healthcare, healthcare operations, product development, alliances, acquisitions and strategic planning to Access MediQuip. Dr. Patel most recently serviced as AMQ’s chief operating and chief clinical officer, with responsibilities that included driving overall value and operating capabilities for the organization including for the payor, provider, facility and manufacturer around quality, cost-of-care initiatives and clinical programs.

 

Dr. Patel was also the chief corporate development officer for Magellan Health Services.

 

He holds a doctor of medicine degree from Cornell University Medical College, in New York. He completed three years of an orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Pittsburgh and completed finance, marketing and accounting classes at the University of Connecticut’s MBA program.
