Abbott Medical Optics Recalls All Lots of Vitrex II

Abbott Medical Optics is recalling all lots of Vitrex II, Ophthalmic Viscosurgical Device, 0.65 mL, manufactured by Lifecore Biomedical, after the company received information that the pH of the product in some syringes exceeded the specified range of 6.8-7.5, according to an AMO news release.

Should the pH of the product exceed 8.5, endothelial damage may occur, according to the literature.  Because Vitrex II may not meet the predefined specification for pH, AMO is voluntarily recalling the product.

A list of affected lot numbers is available in the news release.
