Surgical Care Affiliates has acquired Health Inventures, a national surgical and physicians services company that operates more than 20 ASCs in partnership with 10 health system partners. SCA now has more than 40 health system partners.
South Carolina Workers Compensation fee schedule now covers implants for ASCs.
South Carolina Workers Compensation has updated the fee schedule for ambulatory surgery centers to include the cost of surgical implants. ASCs now receive maximum allowable payments at 140 percent Medicare.
Medicare payment information to physicians could be next to go public.
On May 31, US District Judge Marcia Howard in Jacksonville, Fla., ruled that Privacy Act of 1974 no longer prevents the disclosure of physicians’ Medicare revenue information. The American Medical Association disagrees with the ruling, but moving forward price transparency may begin to apply to individual physicians.
4 payers join Arkansas health insurance exchange.
Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield, National Blue Cross Blue Shield Multi-State Plan, QualChoice of Arkansas and Celtic Insurance Co. of Chicago, subsidiary of NovaSys Health have applied to the Arkansas health insurance exchange and will begin selling plans in October.
Access MediQuip releases enhanced implant Recall Management Service.
Access MediQuip, a surgical and implant management company, has released an enhanced version of its Recall Management Service. RMS is designed to give Access MediQuip the ability to check for device recall before, during and after surgery.
USPI to sell Elmwood Park surgery center.
United Surgical Partners International plans to sell Elmwood (Ill.) Same Day Surgery Center for $1.4M to Scott Borre, CEO of Instant Care Management.
